Residents around Sussex Circus may have see a site associated with the NHS being installed at the Derby Homes Office at Sussex Circus. These offices can no longer be used for their intended purpose due to social-distancing requirements, so they are now being used as a Testing Centre for this side of the City.
This site is seen as suitable given it is easy access, well known and well located for the area it will serve. There hasn't been a huge outbreak in the area, so please do not think this is the reason.
The tests done at this location are the now familiar PCR tests, where a swap takes samples from your nose and tonsils.
Please follow the national guidelines around reasons for going for a test. If you need to book a test, you can do so and the online portal will show you a list of locations where a test can be conducted. You will not be able to turn up and expect a test, you must book first.
From conversations held with Public Health England and those organising the centre, it must be clear that only if you meet the criteria for having a test done will you receive one. This is to ensure that those who need a test can get one as quickly as possible.
