I'm Amanda Solloway and I am proud to be the Member of Parliament for Derby North since 2019, having also represented you between 2015-2017.
I've lived in Derby for over 20 years and worked as a businesswoman, school governor and an active community volunteer.
Being elected to represent the area you call home is the privilege of a lifetime. Getting the opportunity to do it twice is indescribable, and I am humbled that the people of Derby North have, once again, put their trust in me to be their representative in London.
Derby North is home to a wealth of people of all creeds and backgrounds, each person a thread in the tapestry that makes our community. I have had the pleasure of meeting many of them - and hope to meet many more - in my time in the city, and what Derby North needs is an MP who not only listens to their concerns but acts on them. Whether it be on mental health, or period poverty, or even on local hospital parking, I will be raising the issues that matter to you in Westminster, and I aim to do it with some good Derbyshire common sense.
During my previous tenure as your MP, I had the chance to the PPS to the Secretary of State for International Development and I sat on the committees for Human Rights and then Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. Now, I have been promoted to Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Science, Research and Innovation. That said, I will not let my ministerial role distract me from my work in the constituency, and I won't let it stop me from fighting for the issues that mean the most to us in Derby North. Your ministerial work might get you promoted, but it is your constituency work that gets you elected, and it is my constituents that matter the most to me.
As always, if you ever have any issues or questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
