I held a meeting this week with Police and Crime Commissioner Angelique Foster for retail staff and businesses based in Derby to discuss the shoplifting and anti-social behaviour.
Joined by representatives from national supermarkets, local charity shops, and smaller retail outlets, we took a direct approach to these issues in our discussion.
It is clear that progress can be made in our city through communication and cooperation, and I will be working with retail businesses in my constituency and the wider city to enhance and support a system that tackles retail crime.
This week’s announcement from the Government shows that we are supporting our retail industry by investing more than £55 million in smarter technology for prosecution, as well as implementing tougher consequences for those that assault our essential retail workers.
If you are a retail business and would like to hear more about what was discussed, or would like to get involved further in helping to confront this issue, please fill in the form below and I will get back to you with more information.
